Orbit is a location-based social meetup app for iOS that helps people host and join local in-person hangouts. Orbit is operated by Catalyst Apps LLC ("Orbit," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information when you use the Orbit app and related services.

Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and password (handled through our authentication provider, Supabase), along with your username, display name, and bio.
• Profile photo. If you choose to upload a profile photo, we store it to display on your profile.
• Approximate location. We collect your approximate location to show you nearby hangouts and to place hangouts you create on the map.
• Hangouts. We collect information about the hangouts you create or join, including details, times, and participants.
• Chat messages. We collect the messages you send within hangouts and conversations so they can be delivered and displayed.
• Push notification tokens. We collect device push notification tokens so we can send you notifications.
• Device, usage, and diagnostic information. We collect basic information about your device, how you use the app, and diagnostic data to help us operate and improve the service.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Orbit service;
• Show you nearby hangouts and other relevant activity;
• Send you push notifications and service-related messages;
• Support the safety and integrity of our community and investigate misuse;
• Improve, troubleshoot, and develop new features for the app.

How We Share Your Information

We share information in the following ways:

• With other users. Your profile, the hangouts you create or join, and the messages you send are visible to the relevant users on the platform. Please be thoughtful about what you choose to share.
• With service providers and processors. We share information with vendors who help us run Orbit, including Supabase (authentication, database, and storage), Railway (hosting), and the Apple Push Notification service (notification delivery).

We do not sell your personal data.

Location Information

Orbit uses your approximate location while you are using the app to show nearby hangouts and to place the ones you create. You can disable location access at any time in your iOS Settings. If you turn off location access, nearby features will be limited or unavailable.

Push Notifications

We send push notifications about activity relevant to you, such as hangout updates and new messages. You can turn off push notifications at any time in your iOS Settings.

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can delete your account and your content at any time. To request deletion, use the in-app account controls or email us at hello@catalystapps.org. Some information may be retained for a limited period where required for legal, security, or operational reasons.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, as well as additional rights under laws such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and database access controls such as row-level security (RLS). However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

Orbit is not intended for anyone under the age of 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 17. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice within the app.
